Will There Be Food In Heaven?

The other day, my 6 year old daughter Madison asked Mike, "daddy, will there be food in heaven?" Mike looked at me with a grin on his face, and I'm sure I gave him the same look back. See, many of you already know this about Madison, and for those of you that don't, our Maddy is CRAZY about food, always has been. So it's no surprise that making sure there is food in heaven would be of great concern to her. When she was around 18 months of age, we were at a friends house, and Madison scooted herself onto a chair at the dining room table and looked at my friend and said, "snack please" (well, at 18 months, it was more like, "nack, peas"), but we understood what she wanted. Even to this day, if we are going to visit with friends, she wants to know what's on the menu. On the first day of kindergarten, she wasn't concerned at all about whether or not she'd like the teacher, or if she'd make friends, no, Madison was very excited about her lunch that she was bringing. So much so, that she asked us, "what if there won't be anyone there to help me with my juice box?" Now, this is a valid concern since some juice boxes, you'd swear the hole where the straw goes into is made of steel, you practically break a sweat trying to stick the darn straw in there, and once it's in, the straw is all mutilated. We nevertheless reassured her that her lunch experience at school would be just great, and people would be there to help her with any needs. So, getting back to the question of will there be food in heaven, I think we told her something like, she would be so amazed at being in the presence of the Lord that food would not even be a thought. She kind of looked at us with a perplexed look on her face, and then said, "so, will there be food in heaven?" Yes, the way to Madison's heart is definately through her stomach. Gotta love this girl, and we most certainly do!:o)
