Elmer Fudd…A Threat to National Security?
So, it’s now day 3 of the infamous “quail gate.” You know where the Vice President ACCIDENTALLY shot a fellow hunter, on ACCIDENT! However if you’ve listened to the White House Press Corps as of late, you’d think that this was a premeditated act by Vice President Cheney, and that our national security were at stake. The conspiracy theory loving media are still up in arms over this non-story. And NBC’s White House Correspondent, David Gregory, has just been a rabid pit-bull on the attack in his pursuit to “get answers.” He is bound and determined to reveal that there was something more sinister here than what’s been reported.
In an earlier briefing today at the White House, press secretary Scott McClellan, in an attempt to illustrate the absurdity of Gregory’s line of questioning regarding this whole situation, decided to sarcastically take a shot at him and his stupid questions, no pun intended. After all, he (McClellan) has witnessed the media become absolutely unhinged regarding this story for like 3 DAYS NOW!
So yeah, McClellan, kind of ribs Gregory to ask him the question when the cameras are back on, implying that he(Gregory) is merely pandering to the cameras with his obnoxious line of questioning that he already knows the answers to, as these moronic questions have been asked by the frenzied media for 3 flippin’ DAYS!!
Well, David Gregory, didn’t like having his feathers ruffled, he was enraged that McClellan would poke fun at him like that. How dare McClellan embarrass an NBC reporter like this in front of all of his journalistic buddies. After all, they are the self appointed moral authority in this country; they are the ones who do the tough questioning, in order to bring the “truth” to the American people.
ENOUGH with the hunting NON-story! It was an ACCIDENT! Everyone hopes this fellow recovers and does fine, and goes on to live a normal life, (although he may need to get a different hunting partner) but that’s okay.
I just find it amusing that the media establishment can dish it out and badger the administration for days, and hammer away at the Vice President, but when they feel slighted in any way, they scream like a bunch of babies.
Look, Cheney doesn’t need anyone to defend him either, he’s a big boy, and he can take whatever they throw at him. One could only see the writing on the wall, like he didn't know that he’d become the butt of all jokes on the late night circuit. And you can believe that Jon Stewart will open the Oscars with some half baked rabbit, quail, duck, whatever, hunting skit to get a cheap laugh from the elites in the audience.
Oh, and if I may go off on a tangent, oh, yeah, I already am. Anyway, the stupid low-rent comedic jokes that fly out of the mouths of the so-called comedians today are really not that funny. Wasn’t there a time when comedy was actually original and it made people laugh? “Bush is stupid," and "Cheney is a weapon of mass destruction,” oh really... that's it... that’s supposed to be funny? I’m sorry, but if I can read those very same words on the back of a Subaru bumper, it isn’t comedy. And don't think, I'd feel differently about this if these were democrat targets, I felt the same way about the unoriginal, humorless, stupid, jokes about a certain white house intern. Yeah, pretty much they just weren't that funny.
So anyway, like I was saying, when the tables are turned and they are made to look foolish, the media in this case, in particular, spoiled brat David Gregory of NBC news, he throws an absolute temper tantrum because in the end he didn't get his way. Seriously, the only good thing about this story is that we haven’t had to be bombarded with the rest of the lame, ridiculous NON-stories, like Valerie Plame, wiretapping, Jack Abramoff, blah, blah, blah. Oh and just an aside, why hasn’t there been more hay made about the Abramhoff/Reid (Senate minority leader) connection…hum…
So in the interest of not boring the American people to tears with these asinine stories, let the Elmer Fudd, "kill the wabbit" story die. Don’t drag it out any longer than you have too. It is what it is, an accident. Stop looking for hidden messages, and for goodness sake, don’t go calling for a “committee” to look into this situation. Just let it go people, and when I say people I mean the salivating media.
Although, I would love to see RoadRunner drop an anvil on top of David Gregory’s head, now that would be funny!
